Date: Tue, 21 Jul 2009 21:43:56 -0500 Chief Porter, Residents of the 1100 block of Jefferson Avenue, and their guests, have been ticketed for parking on the unpaved north half of the municipal right-of-way. Most recently on Saturday, July 11th, tickets were wrongly written for parking on private property without permission. In my opinion, the former land owner has been using Downers Grove police to harass the residents of the block. FYI, the Final Plat of Subdivision covering this land was recorded in Du Page County as Document # R2006-117953 on June 20, 2006, and it dedicated 35 feet of right-of-way to the Village. I have also confirmed that Downers Grove Township has removed that land from taxation in recognition that it is dedicated right-of-way. Our goal is to stop getting parking tickets for parking in the only safe place to park, as parking on the paved portion generally forces drivers onto the unpaved portion. To that end, the neighbors have submitted a Neighborhood Petition Form, Parking and General Traffic Safety Issues. In addition I would personally appreciate your looking into the tickets that have wrongly been written in the meantime. Thank you. --John Schofield |
