Subject: Nelson Court grading along Carpenter
Jon, attached is a pdf file of our grading along Carpenter, between the catch basins, the small berm just east of the catch basins, sidewalk and retaining wall. As you can see I have slightly revised the grades between the berm and the retaining wall to show that the sidewalk slope will not exceed 2%.
I did not need to revise any of the locations of the berm, catch basin, sidewalk or retaining wall, I simply provided a more detailed grading of the area, showing that the slopes will not be greater than the allowable. I then raised the wall up 0.5 ft. at this location to revise the grading between the walk and the wall from 3:1 (allowable) to 4:1 (preferred). The slope in the grass area will not exceed 4:1.
This should show that we can provide the necessary berm to contain the HGL, while still grading the sidewalk at a 2% cross slope. We also will not exceed the 4:1 in the grass areas.
Hopefully this will allow for the Public Works department to grant final approval of our engineering plans.
As we discussed in your office, I will be forwarding to your office the permits I have received from IEPA etc...
Please let me know if you have any questions.
